During this Watch Party, I shared my personal experience of attending, for the first time, the 2024 posit::conf, held in Seattle in the USA !!! We also watched replays of 2 selected presentations from the conference about Positron and Quarto.

I delivered a pre-recorded online presentation for useR! the global R user conference, which took place in Salzburg, Austria (as well as virtually) in July 2024. I spoke on behalf of R-Ladies Paris with the theme “Leveraging R-Ladies Paris Reach for Community Impact”.

Am I ready to create my own package? What’s the point of working solo? How can I share my package with others? The second presentation is on Tidymodels, a set of R packages that facilitate the use of statistical learning methods (such as random forests, linear models, etc.) in a unified and ‘tidy’ framework. In this presentation, we will see how to use these packages to pre-process data, build, train and evaluate a model.

In recent years, the pharmaceutical industry has undergone two major paradigm shifts, both of which have transformed the drug development and collaboration environment. The first paradigm shift revolves around the implementation of precision medicine. The second paradigm shift is around the adoption of programming languages, particularly the rise of R alongside traditional tools such as SAS. In 2022, we weren’t in a position to answer these questions, but things have changed radically in 2023.

The Epidemiologist’s R Handbook is an open access R reference manual for applied epidemiologists and public health practitioners, available in eight languages and used 2.1 million times by 650,000 people to date. It is a comprehensive resource designed to support the use of R for data analysis, visualisation and interpretation. It is suitable for people new to R, as well as experienced R users looking for best practice and tips.

Quarto is a new open-source scientific and technical publishing system that Posit developed, extending the capabilities of its predecessor R Markdown. This workshop is a short version of the carpentry-style “Introduction to Reproducible Publications with RStudio” including lecture and demos alternating with hands-on exercises.
